This Post Will Change Your Life

August 2, 2010

I stole the title and I stole the idea from Choosing Raw HERE.  No freaking joke this is amazing.  Life altering.  IF you like fruity ice cream or sorbet.

Heaven in a Bowl

Insert Fruit (banana, strawberry, etc) Soft Serve

That’s right. Who knew that frozen fruit could, if given a spin in the food processor, equals fro-yo? Dont just believe me, try it and you will L-O-V-E it.

Just take a cup or 2 of frozen fruit (or freeze fresh fruit) and throw them in your food processor. Let the processor run for about five minutes, stopping every now and then to scrape it down. The frozen fruit should get increasingly light, fluffy, and smooth. By the time you’re done, they’ll resemble a creamy bowl of soft serve, like so:

Tonight I used half frozen banana and about 6 frozen whole strawberries.  This is divine!  I found a few recipe variations from HERE pasted below.  I hope you enjoy!

Carrot Cake Soft Serve

  • 1 frozen ripe banana
  • 1 small carrot, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • splash or two of almond milk
  • pinch nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 tablespoon nut butter (I used cashew butter)

Directions: In a food processor process the carrots until fine. Add milk and frozen banana and process, scraping the bowl frequently until mixture is smooth. Now add in the spices and nut butter and process more. Add more milk if necessary. Serve and enjoy!

Cherry Bomb Banana Soft Serve: process 1 frozen banana with about 1/3 cup frozen cherries

Peanut Butter Banana Soft Serve: 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1 frozen banana, processed
