Depressing Denominator

July 18, 2009

So I was chatting with a coworker today and I said I could not believe it was almost August. He replied with something pretty interesting. Lets say your 7 years old. At that age it seems like it takes forever for Christmas, your birthday or summer vacation to come around again. At the age of 7 each year is 1/7th of your life. For me, at the ripe old age of 28 it seems like time is flying by and that feeling gets worse every year. Well, at 28 years-of-age each year is 1/28th of my life so the sensation of time flying by makes sense.
Lets recap: 1/7 is greater than 1/28. The numerator is always 1 as in 1 year of your life and the denominator is always your current age and thus is always getting larger.
So basically the older I get the faster time will go by. Wow, that is depressing.
